The Next Big Thing?

The Graph was one of the most anticipated token sales that took place in 2020. The project, which has been under development for nearly 3 years, is an indexing protocol for querying networks like Ethereum and other blockchains and allows anyone to build and publish open APIs, thus making data more accessible. And while we are used to overhyped token sales, we are not used to this type of projects — because they are very rare and are the ones having the potential to change the whole space.

The Graph is critical to Web3 because with its birth teams no longer need to develop and operate proprietary indexing servers requiring significant engineering and hardware resources and can focus on making world-class dapps. Imagine we are still at the age of dirt roads and suddenly a highway connecting every major city in the world appears — now instead of being in the dirt, we can focus on building cars, sports cars, buses, restaurants close to the highway, services and so many other verticals. The Graph to Web3 = above highway to the world. What is the most inspiring is this project is just about to launch their main net, so this whole thing will start happening now in front of our eyes.

The Graph currently handles more than 10 billion queries monthly, so this is not just a wild idea but a working product already used by many of the biggest projects in the crypto space. And usage is growing by the minute. Google changed the internet as we know it and made it accessible to people via indexing, just imagine what The Graph could do to the blockchain space.

2 months ago The Graph launched their Curator Program allowing people to join the protocol and put their hands on different tasks, including getting familiar with The Graph, writing a GraphQL schema, deploying a subgraph and learning about the project from different perspectives. And people would get remunerated for their efforts in GRT tokens. The whole experience was so much fun and I enjoyed every single one of the 4 phases of the Program and learned a lot about something that might turn out to be the future.

Now, when the project is 2 weeks from launching their decentralised mainnet, I am even more excited as I now have the know-how what to do and can’t wait to play with the actual token and start curating subgraphs that are being used in the space.

I put the above together as probably there would other opportunities for regular people to participate in the project and grab some tokens by doing tasks. I strongly recommend that you get acquainted with The Graph and follow them closely if such an opportunity presents itself.

Happy holidays!
